Mediterranean and Latin Sounds
Let rhythm move you at Caffe Cordina this summer, where Mediterranean and Latin music will be performed every Wednesday night from 8pm, between 20th June and 26th September. Violinist Simon Vella and guitarist Mark Rapa are among the brilliant local duos who will be performing, but patrons should arrive early as seating for this popular music event is on a first come, first served basis.
Following last year’s successful run of events, our Jazz Nights will be returning to Caffe Cordina every Thursday throughout summer. A five-piece band will once again electrify the atmosphere with jazz classics and original improvisations for three hours from 8pm each week, between 21st June and 27th September.
Looking for jazz music in the capital? Join us on selected Fridays (22 June, 13 and 27 July, 3 and 24 August and 21st September) at Caffe Cordina for an evening of gypsy jazz by the Hot Club of Valletta.
This amazing ensemble is led by renowned multi-talented George Curmi (il-Puse) on violin and saxophone, Yuri on accordion, Joshua Bray and Steve Delia (id-Delli) on guitars and Anthony Saliba (il-Fesu) on Double Bass. The five-piece band will be accompanied by guest singer Larissa. The sound is very different to what you might expect of traditional jazz and one is to expect an evening of Manouche and Romani Gypsy music, early jazz and Django classics. Kicking off at 8pm, the evenings will take place in one of Valletta’s most iconic piazzas – Pjazza Regina, where you will be able to enjoy the swinging music, whilst absorbing the magical setting. Caffe Cordina will be offering the customary delights from a well assorted food menu and wine list. Championing the best gypsy jazz sounds straight from the heart of Paris, we guarantee you an acoustic feast for all music lovers.
